How do I get a good scan?
Fill the frame with one item, in good light, and get close enough to read any label, stamp or maker’s mark. A second scan of the underside or the label often sharpens the answer. If HaulHound can’t find an item in the photo, the scan doesn’t use up a free scan.
What does the price range mean?
It’s what similar items usually resell for second-hand, judged from what the AI can see in the photo — not a promise. The small line under it says what the estimate is based on. Condition, maker and demand move the real price, so tap the sold-listings link to see recent sales before you buy or price it. When the photo isn’t enough for a reliable price, HaulHound says so instead of guessing.
How does the profit check work?
Type what you paid, or would pay. HaulHound takes the price range, subtracts the marketplace fee (a percentage of the sale) and the shipping cost, then subtracts your price. You get a net profit range that updates as you type. You can change the fee and shipping for one find without touching your defaults.
What do Worth flipping, Thin margin and Pass mean?
They look at the middle of your net profit range.
• Worth flipping: you’d at least double your money and make 10 or more in your currency.
• Thin margin: some profit, but little room if it sells low.
• Pass: after fees and shipping you’d likely break even or lose money.
It’s a nudge, not a rule: you know your market best.
What are the [brackets] in the listing?
They mark details only you can confirm, like size, measurements, whether it works or any flaws. They’re highlighted so you don’t miss them: fill them in or remove them before posting. Copy the title, description and tags one by one, or all at once. And always say whether you tested the item.
What can I ask HaulHound?
Open Ask HaulHound from a result to chat about that find: how to test or clean it, where it sells best, what price to start at, how to ship it safely. Tap a suggested question or type your own. Each find keeps its last 30 messages. Answers can be wrong, so double-check anything important.
What do the statuses mean?
Every find starts as Thinking. Mark it Bought with the price you paid, Listed with your asking price and Sold with the final price. A sold find adds its real profit (sale price minus the fee, shipping and what you paid) to the month card on Finds. Swipe a find in the list to change its status.
What is a haul?
A haul is one trip (a flea market, a garage sale, an estate sale) with the finds you brought home. It totals what you spent, the estimated value still to sell and the real profit so far. Add finds from your list, or use Scan into this haul so new scans land there directly. The free version holds one haul; Premium, as many as you like.
How do I set my currency, fee and shipping?
In Settings, under Selling defaults. The currency starts from your device region and is sent with each scan, so price ranges come back in it. The fee is the percentage your marketplace keeps (13% to start); shipping is what you usually pay to send an item (0 to start).
What’s free, and what does Premium add?
Free: a few scans and questions every day (currently 3 scans and 5 questions), one haul and everything else (profit check, listings, tracker, month card), with ads. Premium: no ads, unlimited scans and questions within a generous fair-use cap, unlimited hauls and CSV export of your finds. A scan that finds nothing, or that fails, never uses up a free scan.
How do I get Premium back on a new device?
Use the same Apple ID, open Settings and tap Restore purchases. No HaulHound account is needed. Your finds stay on the old device, though: export them as CSV first if you want a copy.
The camera won’t start. What can I do?
HaulHound asks for the camera the first time you tap Start camera. If you said no, open the iOS Settings app, find HaulHound and turn Camera on; the Open Settings button in the app takes you there. Meanwhile you can still pick a photo of a find from your library.
What is sent when I scan or ask a question?
Only after you agree. A scan sends the photo, the app language, your currency and a random install ID; a question sends the chat, the find’s identification (never the photo), the language and the install ID. They go to the HaulHound AI server on Cloudflare, which forwards them through OpenRouter to Google Gemini. The server keeps only daily counters (by install ID and IP address), for two days. Your finds, photos and chats stay on your phone. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I delete my data?
Swipe a find in the list to delete it (you can undo right away), or delete all finds and hauls in Settings, under Data. To stop sending photos for analysis, withdraw your AI consent in Settings. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. There’s nothing to delete on our side: we don’t keep your photos or questions.
